PDU's are purpose made Power Distribution Units designed specifically for
use in high integrity locations, such as computer rooms, data centres, or communication rooms.
PDU's are designed to facilitate the safe and quick addition of extra outgoing ways.
I & M Controls have been manufacturing PDU's since the 1970s when IBM and ICL first started building large computer rooms. Since then we have manufactured thousands of units ranging from complex PDU's with static transfer switches to simple, cost effective wall mounted units.
Construction normally includes:
- Controls section - Containing metering, indication and control equipment
- Incomer/MCB section - With devices located behind an inner door
- Terminal section - Housing incoming and outgoing terminals
PDU's can incorporate features such as:
- Static Transfer Switches
- Isolation transformers for protection against harmonics
- Surge/transient suppression Power monitoring (local or remote)

- Mesh covers allowing thermal imaging
- Glass doors and underfloor plinths BS4343 outgoing sockets
- Emergency shut down facility
- Custom paint finish Combined UPS Input/Output switchgear
- BMS interfaces
- Size to match adjacent equipment.
